Alapaha Awards Banquet
This is an evening of fun and fellowship and will feature awards and recognitions for our dedicated district leaders. The highlight of our evening is the annoucment of the District Award of Merit recipient.
Recognizing adult leaders and volunteers is one of the most important ways we can show our appreciation for the time and dedication they give to our program. Below you will find some of the most common leader awards and knots, along with who can earn them and the application or worksheet needed to track your progress.
Cub Scout Den Leader Training Knot/Den Leader Award
Overview: To recognize den leaders who have completed training, tenure, and performance requirements. Available for Tiger Cub den leaders, Cub Scout den leaders, and Webelos den leaders.
Who Can Earn This Award: Den leaders
Scouters Training Award
Overview: To encourage training, tenure in a position, participation, and performance of adult leaders.
Who Can Earn This Award: Cub Scout leaders, Boy Scout leaders, Venturing leaders, and district committee members.
Unit Leader Award of Merit
Overview: To encourage units to be strong and viable by attaining certain benchmarks characteristic of strong units; seven requirements must be met with nomination by the top youth leader if for a troop, crew, or ship; nomination is certified by the unit commissioner
Who Can Earn This Award: Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Venturing Crew Advisors
Overview: To encourage training, performance, and tenure.
Who Can Earn This Award: Earned by Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Venturing Crew Advisors, Commissioners, District and Assistant District Commissioners, District Committee members.
District Award of Merit
Overview: Available to registered Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level.
Who Can Earn This Award: Presented to registered adult volunteers by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is, as a national award presented by councils; it is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award.
This award is presented annually at each districts banquet. Please contact your district committee for their specific nominating window and procedures.
