This hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops and Varsity Scout Teams, in order to be considered "trained".


Saturday-Day One

11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Woods Tools

1-2:30 p.m. Ropes 
2:30-2:45 p.m. Break 
2:45-3:45 p.m. Plant Identification 
3:45-4:30 p.m. Animal Identification 
4:30-4:45 p.m. Flag ceremony 
4:45-5 p.m. Break 
5-6 p.m. Cooking 
6-7 p.m. Dinner 
7-8:15 p.m. Packing and Hiking Techniques 
8:15-9 p.m. Fire Site Preparation and Building 
9-9:30 p.m. Campfire program 
9:30-10 p.m. Cracker barrel 

Sunday-Day Two

8-8:30 a.m. Interfaith worship 
8:30-8:45 a.m. Flag ceremony (optional) 
8:45-10 a.m. Finding Your Way
